Giving Back:
We are about Simply Living. This means giving back to the
community in many ways.
We recycle paper, donate clothes and household goods to charities, and
bring grocery bags to local libraries for their needs (PS - they always
need bags). We also recycle Ziploc bags, unless they contained meat.
We are advocates for the Spiritual Community and for People with
Disabilities, sitting on several committees. We have many donated hours
to Expo's, helping with set-up, door-checks, and other basic duties that
they would have otherwise had to pay people to do.
Another way that we would like to give back is to start a Circle here in
the Columbus Area. A Circle is a meeting that is considered non-Wiccan,
but spiritual. This would be by donation of either funds, materials, or
your time, as long as we have a commitment from you such as a signature
showing your dedication to attend. We will manage the arrangements,
calling each attendant on the day and time agreed by all, and we would
mange the set-up, although your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
It would be centrally located, disabled accessible, and there would be
food and music.
There are so many ways to give back to Mother Nature. Instead of paper
or plastic, try using cloth bags; just one small step, but it will have
a significant environmental impact.
Another tip: plan your day around where you need to go - drive from
out-in, so as to save gas. I laugh as I write this, because of the
rising gas prices these days, we can all appreciate this. |
